Jim McBride

It is my sad to duty to inform you all of that Jim McBride Honourary Member of BMFC sadly passed away on Saturday the 1st Dec 2007. As you will all be aware Jim has been battling illness for a long long time, but never let it get him down, the picture you see above was the way I will always remember him with that great big smile. Jim was an Honourary member of the club(the only one)although he had a great interest in the hobby and in aircraft in general he did not fly but while he was fit enough he did take charge of the tea fund and was always in the caravan with the kettle on and a yarn or two, how I loved sitting in that caravan listening to the craic between Jim and his good friend and member of the club George O'Mullan and although Jim new that his illness would evntually win he always kept smiling and kept us smiling. Jim also shared a great interest in Motorcycles and Photography with many of us in the club and his knowledge on the subjects was impressive.
He was keen on our exploits especially the Rathlin and Islay trips and was at both events.
I last saw Jim at the club several weeks ago when he was watching us fly but he was not able to get out of the car that day and I regret my brief chat with him that day and wish it had have been longer.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family. Through all his ordeal I never heard Jim complain about anything the world is a sadder place without him.
