3DX Ireland

On the 5th 6th and 7th of May 3DX Ireland took place in Portadown. The 5th and 6th being fun fly days and Sunday the 7th the first 3DX Ireland competition, The weather was great on Friday and Saturday but Sunday was not so good but the flying took place and everyone had a brilliant time. As you are all aware Alwyn was entered in the competition and well what an event it was for him, firstly on Saturday he blew a hole in the piston of the engine in his Synergie, so it was back on Sunday with the Raptor90 and unfortunately the tail let go on a warm up flight and she was well damaged. Now the good bit the lads from Fast- Lad lent Alwyn a new Trex600 to enter the competition with and on his first set manouvres flight the wind got the better of him in the auto and he damaged it, not to be beaten the Fast-lads lent Alwyn another Trex600 and he went on to win 3rd place a great achievment. Our thanks go to Chris and Andy of fast lads who without there generosity in lending Alwyn the models he would have been just a spectator like me, although on his last flight the adrenaline was flowing through my veins( Oh is Adrenaline brown)and I had butterflies in my stomach at one stage I had to look away and glanced sideways and saw our chairman Robert doing the same further up the flight line Alwyns better half Tasha had her head burried in the bench we just could not look, it was amazing.
Alwyn wasn't the only one to crash Duncan Osbourne was giving a demo flight and hit a tree, it was an amazing demo and more on that later when I have the film captured on hard Disk.
Ballymoney was on tour in force in our new jackets and everyone had a great day, we would like to thank all the guys that came across the water to judge and all the sponsors also, and a special thanks to David Nolan and his dad Liam for all there hard work. It was worth it David
